Systemic racism plagues society today and has done so for hundreds of years.
For far too long the black community have been unjustly treated by some members of society and other authority figures. This has led to feelings of hate, animosity, and even fear.
Change must happen. The time is long overdue and the opportunity is now to come together; communities, policy makers, social advocates and law enforcement, for earnest discussions that lead to permanent change.
I am committed to talking, working together, and finding permanent and binding solutions to dismantle institutional barriers and counter racial injustices and discrimination so that as Martin Luther King rightly said that, “men would not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character.“
I am eager to lend my voice, listen to solutions and help to identify resources as we work to move Ward 20 and the City of Toronto forward, together.
